A Scottish Ceilidh Pillow
How fun, a pattern from my own book, Easy Does It Quilts, for the Scottish Ceilidh. A festival of song and merriment to benefit Historic Flat Rock, Inc. I dug into my Scottish tartans from Glasgow, made a Grid Grip pattern and the rest is history.
Patching together tartan samples into 4 twenty inch squares enabled me to place hand dyed wool thistles on each block. With silk/wool embroidery thread a simple blanket stitch highlights each applique thistle.
The end result: a nice size thistle pillow. Hope it does well in the auction for Flat Rock on July 23rd, 2011
The back. Used just a zipper to hold it together.
